Although first visits can vary in the specifics depending on your child’s age, there are some things you can expect no matter how old they are. After checking in, you and your child will head back and meet Dr. Michelle. Together, you’ll discuss your little one’s oral health history, and she’ll perform an exam of their teeth (or tooth!) and gums. She’ll discuss her findings and create a treatment plan if she discovers any issues with their development or dental health. She will also provide you with guidance and advice about how to care for your child’s smile as they grow.
Since most first visits are rather straightforward, there isn’t much to bring, although we do ask that you come prepared with a few bits of information to streamline your experience:
You can also fill out all of your child’s new patient forms ahead of time, whenever it’s convenient for you.
It’s important to set your child up for success at their first visit to the dentist. If they’re old enough, talk to them about going to the dentist, and try to get them excited about, or at least comfortable with the idea of, their first visit. Our Fairfield team recommends scheduling their appointment earlier in the day, so they’re fresh, and less likely to be tired or fussy. If you have any questions or would like to let us know about any concerns you may have ahead of time, give us a call at (203) 307-2430 to speak with one of our friendly team members.
